Partners in a company, aptly called A Night of Romance, the duo go about planning dream wedding nights for newly-weds. From planning exquisite room décor, ambient music to personalising your hotel room with special linens and champagne – these experts handle it all.
And what led them to offering this unique range of services? Nirmala says, “When I got married, I wanted something special for our wedding night. Inspired by Bollywood wedding night scenes, I started researching hotels and what was being offered. Many hotels provided a bottle of champagne, but none of the hotels I contacted had any special wedding night packages. I was hoping to find something more extravagant and personalised for my husband and me. While sharing our thoughts about planning our respective weddings and wedding nights, and the fact that there was no company that provided a wedding night decorating/romantic staging service, Monika and I thought, “Why not us?” We took it from there and decided to start A Night of Romance.”
Thus was born a unique business venture out of their personal experiences while planning their own weddings. Ask them if they are romantics at heart, and the answer you receive gives you an insight into the thought process behind setting up this highly specialised company: “The wedding night is the first time that the couple is spending together as husband and wife, after days of celebrations and ceremonies with friends and family. It’s a momentous occasion that symbolises the beginning of a journey together and this night happens only once in the couple’s marriage. It deserves a celebration and just as much attention as the wedding day.”
A personal touch and attention to detail is what sets the company apart in providing couples with an once-in-a-lifetime experience. Most of their clientele includes brides or grooms who want to surprise their significant other, or family and friends who want to purchase a package for the couple as a wedding gift. And their most popular package? You guessed it… it’s their Bollywood Night to Remember package. “I think people enjoy this package because it reminds them of Bollywood movies, specifically of the suhaag raat tradition. It’s easy to picture the bride awaiting her groom on the bed covered with petals and cascading hanging flowers. For those of us who grew up watching those movies, the image of a bedroom decorated beautifully has stayed with us,” says Nirmala.
Working together with hotels and other accommodation specialists, the company goes about creating a unique experience for couples. Want a special picnic basket to be ready when you and your spouse enter your room? No problem. Or perhaps a package that is in sync with your wedding theme? Or maybe you want a special CD of selected songs to play when you and your partner settle in for the night? It’s no challenge for these talented women.

Monika, co-owner of A Night of Romance, shares that their ultimate goal is offer couples an intimate, sensual experience. She elaborates, “We cater to a couple five’s senses... Vibrant, coloured flower arrangements, fresh rose petals, luxurious fabrics, decorative items, and candlelight creates a sight for the couple’s eyes. We use a variety of room fragrances and incense in addition to the gentle scent of rose petals that permeates the room. Then, based on a couple’s preferences, we put together an arrangement of soft romantic music. We use luxurious satin linens and silk embroidered cushions, bath and body products. And last but not the least, we offer champagne or wine, sparkling water, chocolate truffles, chocolate covered strawberries, fruits, cakes and other desserts. We can arrange an array of drink and dessert choices for the couple.” So if you have any special requests that you’d like fulfilled, all you have to do is ask!
While many couples spend months planning the intricate details of their wedding ceremony and reception, not many actually take the time out to plan the details of their wedding night. You’d think that the first night as husband and wife would demand a little more planning, right? Nirmala shares, “Planning a wedding is a considerable undertaking, and there are so many facets that need to be focused on. A Night of Romance focuses on the wedding night only. From the moment we meet our client, we listen to what the couple wants, and we makesure that the whole process from beginning to end is taken care of. Most couples don’t realize that hotels have rules when it comes to accessing a room, decorating a room, and cleaningup the next day. There is a whole set of hotel policies that must be dealt with prior to the event. The couple shouldn’t have to worry about these details on their wedding day. A Night of Romance takes the time to work with the hotel to make sure that there are no issues so that the couple can relax and enjoy their wedding night.”
